Campaign Update 1- 9/19/20

I’d like to start this very first campaign update by saying: Sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something. -Jake the Dog

And let me tell you, this was a hot mess. That’s okay because it was the first time for us all, and we’re still learning. From technical difficulties to struggles with roleplay this was definitely session #1.

The year is 2526 PD, on the continent of Lochtach.

Our adventure begins in the little town of Wildepoint, in the country of Stra Gros. The town is somber and quieter than most small farming towns. The people seem melancholy and to themselves.

Rhubi and Nephthos (Ne) enter town, and move right to the Maidenhead Inn. As they enter Nephthos runs right up to the bar and asks the keep what he has to drink. Rhubi, overwhelmed by her traveling companion, takes a seat at an empty table. As he returns to the table a blonde haired young woman enters the pub and takes a seat at the bar.

Nephthos walks up to an extremely somber Halfling man seated at the bar and asks why he seems so down, and why everyone in town seems so down. The man began to sob and weep, wailing about his son, his poor son. A maid at the pub scolds Ne for getting into other people’s business but Amaranth stands up for him and then joins them at their table in the center of the room.

After a few minutes Ne comes to the conclusion that he should apologize to the man for prying into his business. As he does so, and continues to be curious and question; the maid once again pulls him away and explains that the man’s son went missing recently. As have almost all of the other children in the town; with no explanation.

Just as all of this is happening two Crown’s guard enter and shout for the guard Captain. They announce “Captain! It’s happened again!” and after a hushed conversation they exit the pub and take off running. Nephthos decides that the rag tag group might be able to help and they run and follow the Crown’s Guard out of the pub and through the town.

However, halfway through town the triad trips on loose gravel and eat absolute shit on the middle of a road.The two women had to help Nepthos( the 12 year old boy, in heavy metal armour) up off the ground. After which they decide to walk hastily from there and move into the part of town that is made up of mostly farming fields, all of which seems to be well kept; except the large windmill that occupies the crossroads at the center of the fields. As they walk Amaranth gathers a few ears of corn and begins to hastily stuff them into her bag.

As they walk they begin to notice that the scarecrows in the fields seemingly multiply and it feels as though the scarecrows are getting closer. Nephthos suspects one of moving and strikes it with his hand crossbow, it grunts and groans and moves even closer to him.

As the scarecrows get closer, Amaranth and Rhubi begin to attack with magic, sending shockwaves of thunder and slashing with whips made of thorns and none of which seem to have any strong effect on the scarecrows. Rhubi gets magically frightened by one of the scarecrows and is paralyized (Twice). Nephthos ends up getting attacked by a scarecrow and falls unconscious until Amaranth can get to him to cast cure wounds.

The scarecrows end up grappling Nephthos and begin dragging him across the field. Rhubi tried to reach and retrieve him magically but could not. So she ends up running to and pulling him away from the scare crow.
